Muhammadiyah condemns suicide bombing
The chairman of Muhammadiyah, Indonesia's second-largest Muslim organization, has condemned the suicide bombing of a mosque at the Cirebon Police office complex that injured 15 on Friday.
The attack did not reflect the teaching of any religion and that the bomber's action showed that he did not believe in God and had no sense of humanity, Din Syamsuddin said on Sunday
“A person who commits suicide is considered an infidel by Islam because it shows hopelessness,” he said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Din said he “could not imagine” that any Muslim would use suicide as a tool to create terror in a mosque.
Din called for on all Indonesian Muslims in the to remain calm and composed in the wake of the bombing, which, he added, might have been designed to deter Muslims from going to mosques.
“There is no need to over-react and worry about going to the mosque,” Din said.
